To clear up likely confusion, you will see reference to Ronnie or Ron. That is what I was called until I went away to college and had to sign my full name. From that point on, I became Robert... almost always Bob... and am still known that way. It was common in the Smith family to be known by ones middle name. My relatives tried hard to think of me as Bob, but Ronnie is still natural for them, so photos are labeled with the name I held at that time.	Children are often the product of their surroundings. My parents were poor much of their lives. Dad's life could have been very different had it not been for the Great Depression, but all our lives take such turns unexpectedly. I will write more about that for my parents' page, but I raise it here because I feel lucky to have been a kid in a poor working-class family. (click for more)
