Family NEWS page

Tidbits of family information are often discovered, but there is no easy way to communicate them to other family members. That will be the purpose of this page. Such tidbits might include BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES, DIVORCES, ADDRESS CHANGES, EMAIL CHANGES, etc. As you find something that may be of interest to other family members, just email it to nfnf@comcast.net and I'll post it here.

6/25/10	Added a small section with links to 2010 Reunion photos. What a great time we had this year! Weather was perfect, Oxford Beards joined us, tour of the big radio telescope, firepit dinner at Jane and Kerm's place, and great fun at D.J.'s house and game room. Carole Beard Pierce is organizing the 2011 Reunion.

3/18/10	Added seven excellent photos of Fred and Nellie, taken by Dennis Beard in Missouri, about 1964. This section is 12 rows down on the Fred and Nellie page.
7/23/09	Added a GREAT photo to the bottom of the Fred and Nellie page. I believe thanks are due for it to Carole Beard. I'm currently going through 7 albums from Carole, DJ, and some may have been Thelma's.
7/13/09	Five more pages added, for our (first cousins) children... Jane's children, Kim, Tim, Janel, and Mark, and Angie, Ruby's daughter (thanks to photos she put on Facebook). Also added 15 new Reunion photos from Rick Pierce.
from Bob Smith	I had intended to continue adding photos to the remaining first cousins' pages, but, due to the surprising interest shown by our children, I've started placing pages for that generation first. Then I'll go back and add photos. I've created pages for my own daughters, Kira and Lorna. There are at least 30 more in that generation, so I'll need a lot of help with information and photos.
from Bob Smith	Judging by comments from other attendees, the 2009 Reunion was a resounding success. THIRTY-FIVE people were in attendance... 25 at lunch on Saturday, 31 at dinner that evening, and 15 at breakfast the next morning. I'm most impressed (and relieved) that so many of "the next generation" are quite interested in family history, and want to help. I think a lot of them discovered (as my generation has) that they have some great relatives, well worth knowing and staying in touch with. A hint to you other computer folks: we're gathering quite a bunch of relatives on Facebook, which is an easy way to keep track of what others are doing... it solves the "out of sight, out of mind" problem very nicely. We're already having some discussion of the 2010 Reunion, and several people who didn't make it this year are planning on coming then. We're trying to round up some of our relatives from the "Oxford clan" too so it will undoubtedly be bigger and better than this year was. There are still a lot of interesting and fun folks who haven't blessed us with their presence yet, and we're anxious to see you.
from Bob Smith	Mystery solved... the gravestone at Brick Chapel for the Fred Beard who died in 1952 (b. 1888) is for the son of Benjamin Franklin Beard and Martha Elizabeth O'Brien. Fred was the brother of Mary Anna Beard Young, Trenton Beard, Mae Beard Morgan, and Walter Beard.
