Yakov Dorofeevich Romas
Yakov Dorofeevich Romas was born in 1902 in the village of Sokolka, Poland.

In 1921-1924 he studied at the Prechistensky practical institute under N.P. Krymov and N.P. Uliyanov.

In 1930 he graduated from the VHUTEIN (Higher Moscow technical institute), where studied at the theatrical-decorational department. Studied under I.M. Rabinovich and P.P. Kochalovsky.

In 1922 –1924 Romas worked as a theatrical painter.

In 1924 – 1937 he effected the art decoration of the central Moscow areas in the days of revolutionary celebrations. An author of the art decoration of the Central V.I. Lenin museum.

In 1932 – 1936 Y. Romas conducted the teaching work at the Moscow regional art pedagogical college of the Memory of the Year 1905, and in 1948 – 1950 – at the Moscow V.I. Surikov State art institute.

The artist is the author of the following art works: “Winter volleys of the Baltica” (1941 - 1942), “Fresh wind” (1946), “Morning” (1957), “The celebration of spring. Luksor” (1958), etc. The pictures of Y. Romas are at the State Tretiyakov gallery, Novokuznetsky city museum, Samara art museum, and also in the private collections in Russia and abroad: Germany, Japan, USA, France, Greece.
